ProvenanceUS WW2 collection of loose photos of an airman probably stationed principally in the Pacific and China-Burma-India theatres as part of the 400th Bomber Squadron. Of note are exceptional aerial photos of strafing and bombing runs against Balikpapam (Borneo), Penaplanca (Philippines) and Bintulu (Sarawak, Indonesia). Also includes dramatic images of an airfield under attack, aircraft in flight, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, meeting US airmen, good examples of nose and tail art plus interesting photos of Chinese Nationalists (probably connected with the joint Chinese/US campaigns in northern Burma). Photographs of the European Theatre may have been swapped with friends. Many people and places are identified on the versos.
