ProvenanceThe recto signature, l.r. is not consistent with pre-1957 spelling, and done in felt-marker, which is implausible for 1948. There are no other examples to date of recto felt marker signature and this signature was most likely applied in the 1960s, and possibly much later. The verso “O” appears in the verso inscription for Full Moon, c. 1956—a Parry Sound subject—collection AGH. See image to left. The 1948 production date requires more investigation. Is the support canvas board is of European or North American origin? Additional note: the support is a cut-down board at the top edge, although could be an as-found by Iskowitz. -Ihor Holubizky, May 2019
