When an alert sounds minutes are saved because only take-off checking is necessary. If a plane does not leave the ground even for a day, the long pre-flight checking is done all over again before placing the bomber on a "ready" basis. Here maintenance men examine equipment in the tail section of a giant B-52. (52-23849)
