ProvenanceThe fifth of five albums of an unnamed soldier (or soldiers) in Wehrmacht Artillery Regiment 109. Photographs document his service during the Balkan Campaign and then on the Eastern Front. Included are images of streets lined with welcoming Yugoslav civilians (Zagreb?), advancing artillery columns and many captured Yugoslav and Soviet POWs. Also shown are details of artillery (including a shell marked 'Gegen den roten Terror' - Against the Red Terror) and pictures of peasants, Orthodox churches and the perfunctory burial of a Red Army soldier. Album concludes with the injured unnamed soldier's transfer by hospital-train back to Germany and views of the hospital. Includes a list of fellow soldiers killed in action ('Blut und Ehre Groszdeutschlands' - 'Greater Germany's Blood and Honour').
