ProvenanceSecond album of Gerhard-Albrecht (Gerd) von Massow, WW1 veteran and commander of the Luftwaffe’s Jagdfliegerschulen (Fighter Schools) for much of WW2. Photographs document the early interwar years in Germany and Russia. Of particular note are snapshots of Russian civilians (during early collectivization), pilots and flight training, perhaps as part of a secret German-Soviet programme. Ephemera includes postcards of Lenin, Leningrad and Moscow as well as many propaganda images, aviation cartoons and rural scenes. Captions.
