Abelardo Morell

Abelardo Morell was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States in 1962, and now lives in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Bowin College and Yale University, where he received his Masters in Fine Arts. He has been Visiting Professor at Princeton University, N.J. and presently is Professor of Photography, Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Morell took up photography in 1969, and is a recipient of the Contras Foundation Fellowship (1992), the John S. Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship (1993), and was awarded the Rappaport Prize in 2006.
