Janis Stemmermann
Janis Stemmermann is an artist and designer living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art and New York Studio Program with a focus on sculpture. She is the recipient of a grant from the Pollock- Krasner Foundation. She founded and operated Brooklyn Press, a print studio focusing on creating unique editions with contemporary artists, becoming a member of the Printmaking Archive at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Her editions are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and the New York Public Library. She founded and operated a specialty knit design and production company, Brooklyn Handknit supplying higher-end boutiques, department stores and catalogs worldwide.
