Cuccioni was a printmaker and art dealer who took up photography in 1852. He died 23 August 1864.

A successful engraver and print dealer in Rome, Tommaso Cuccioni took up photography in 1852. He photographed paintings in the Palazzo Farnese and exhibited views of Rome at the World Exhibition in London in 1862.

Upon Cuccioni's death, the business passed to his brother Gioacchino, and what amounted to the copyright went to his wife, Isabella. She carried on her husband's work by purchasing and preserving negatives by other commercial photographers, including Robert MacPherson.
