Johann Christian ReinhartGerman, 1761 - 1847

One of the eminent German printmakers, Reinhart left for Rome in 1789 and never returned to his native land. In the course of this long, illustrious career he made 184 plates, all etchings apart from five lithographs. They are all landscapes, with the exception of a few animal studies, which cover a range of feeling from the intimate to the heroic.
